We are proud to offer a Certified Organic White Tea from Yunnan.  This tea was grown in the area of Simao and was harvested in April.

This "Moonlight White" White Tea (月光白) is a Chang Ye Bai Hao varietal growing at and altitude 1260 meters (4150 feet) near Mulihe Village on Wan Zhang Mountain (just west of Pu'Er City).  The processing is typical, using "room temperature" air-drying (晾干).   There is very little withering and when brewed the tea leaves have a green/yellow color.

The tea brews a golden yellow tea soup that is thick, full-bodied with a creamy viscous mouth-feel.  The tea is sweet like sugarcane with hints of wheatgrass.  There a bit more vegetal character to this tea as compared to the Silver Needles White, giving this tea a bit more depth.  This tea can be brewed 6 to 8 times gong fu style.

Our Yunnan Sourcing Certified Organic teas are certified organic by EcoCert SA and are certified organic to international standards (EcoCert is IFOAM accredited).

New(and Happy) Customer

"I only recently became interested in tea so I'm not really qualified to judge quality, but I found the Yunnan Moonlight White Tea to be an excellent choice as a starter tea. It was very easy to prepare and didn't seem fussy with regards to infusion time. It had a very pleasant appearance and taste and I was able to get quite a good number of satisfying infusions each time. It was my first order on the site and I found it to be very easy to navigate and understand the products. The prices appear to me to be very affordable and less expensive than other sites I have looked at. I have already ordered more tea and plan on trying many different types. I'm glad that I can get good loose leaf tea at such a good price and in such a convenient manner."

Light sweetness for a heavy tea drinker

"I'm a heavy tea drinker. I prefer to have a larger cup of tea than a tasting cup and still appreciate its light color and the sweetness of its flavor. I enjoy this tea! Also, as in writing this, I have a cold. This white tea is very soothing every morning and has made me feel better each and better each day."

Wonderful.

"I also do this tea gong fu style. It's very honey/sweet like upfront with an almost, maybe floral/orchid taste in the back a bit. This is a full bodied, thick and creamy tea. I love this tea."

David J. (5/5)

Balanced

"Still super sweet, flowery, but more depth and balance than let's say a silver needle."

Review of tea and company

"My husband and I have been searching for a certified organic white tea for awhile now and were excited to find your company. We like the smooth mellow finish and light to amber color (depending on how long we steep it). We love this tea, love the quick response time in ordering and in answering questions. Great product and customer service!"

Wonderful white tea with excellent mouthfeel

"I've only tried white tea a few times before, so I was blown out of the the water by this tea! I would definitely order it again. Most whites I've had before either had no flavor or tasted more astringent and medicinal, and this is not that! This is a wonderful tea! Leaf: The leaf is stunning! It's super fluffy and the silver hairs gleam against the black portions of the leaf. This is a super loose tea, it's lovely. The leaf size is even and not dusty or broken at all. Taste: I brewed this gongfu style, 4g at 185*F for 10 seconds after a quick wash. I am terrible at counting infusions, but this one lasts a really long time, at least 6-8 infusions. The mouthfeel is light, smooth, and velvety, with a nice finish. The soup is darker than I expected, it's a nice honey color. The taste is very nice, maybe slightly stone-fruity? It reminds me of my most favorite highly oxidized ruby oolong, but as a white tea. Maybe vanilla-ish? It has a nice natural sweetness to it and it's just really good. I've even brewed 2g at 185*F western style and had great results, it doesn't get bitter at all and I can get 3-4 steeps!"

Love it!

"I'm super impressed with this tea. I don't normally like white teas but this one has a depth of body that's just wonderful. I break the rules and brew it with boiling water because I like strong tea and this one does not get bitter that way - it brews a deep golden color with a very rich flavor, kind of roasted. Really lovely, even though I break the rules!"

Great Moonlight White

"The furry buds and clean budsets are pleasing to the eye. The taste of fruits with light notes of malty hops is just the way I like my yue guang bai. I typically brew about a gram grandpa style in a thermos; the stronger the steep, the better the taste. An excellent daily drinker."

Very good

"This moonlight tea is very good with some sweetness and a mellow after notes."
