2016 Yunnan Sourcing "Zheng Jia Liang Zi" Raw Pu-erh Tea Cake
Zheng Jia Liang Zi is a small village just south of Ma Hei village and just north of Yi Wu town and Luo Shui Dong. Zheng Jia Liang Zi was first settled by the Zheng family from Shiping town (Honghe) in 1730. It was at this time that the first tea trees were planted in this area. In 1985 a small road was completed to the area. In total there are 16 families living in the village. Our production is output of two families and is entirely early October 2016 picked tea.
Our Zheng Jia Liang Zi tea cake is a classic Yi Wu Zheng Shan taste and shares some characteristics with Ma Hei tea. Strong, balanced, with a slight bitterness that's countered by a grass and orchid sweetness. Fast hui gan and a long-lasting mouthfeel.
This tea was compressed in a small tea factory in Yi Wu town where unusually large 40 kilogam stone presses were used. Low temperature (35C) “baking” was used to dry these cakes after the compression process thus preserving their integrity! In total just 30 kilograms of this tea has been produced. We have delayed sales of this cake for more than 4 weeks to allow the water vapor from pressing to dissipate. Further aging will only improve this wonderful tea!
Just 15 kilos in total produced!
250 grams per cake (7 cakes per bamboo tong)
