Cingjing Natural Farming Tie Guan Yin Oolong Tea
What will happen to a Tie Guan Yin varietal if it is grown at high elevation, yet without the use of any pesticides or herbicides? This plantation is the answer to such an impossible-seeming question.
With the help of multiple connections, we finally were able to meet the man who insisted on growing this tricky varietal in such an incredible environment. This place is located near the famous destination "Cingjing Farm" (清境農場), an known for breeding sheep and its panoramic views of the Central Mountain Range. Visitors will often find shops of high mountain tea farmers spread out along the road, but few of these farmers go organic, let alone use organic fertilizer.
This is why, when you reach this plantation, you will be amazed by the verdant, grassy hillside where the tea grows, in contrast to other plantations in the same region which are visible from far away. The tea trees grow quite naturally here without much human intervention, making it the perfect material for us to work with.
The Tie Guan Yin, or "Hong Xin Wai Wei Tao" varietal is a difficult varietal to grow for most farmers. The yield is way lower than the most popular varietals, and the processing effort it requires is often too immense for the modern production method to accomodate. Fortunately, we are a producer that has enough experience and time to make this Tie Guan Yin a “true” Tie Guan Yin with our withering fermentation technique, resulting in one of the richest and purest Tie Guan Yin experiences that can be had. This is a tea that any tea lover would like to own and store. We hope that this limited production tea will be the Holy Grail of TGY tea for you, bearing in mind your love for truly natural tea.
