2012 Yunnan Sourcing "Zhu Peng Zhai" Wild Arbor Raw Pu-erh Tea Cake
Zhu Peng Zhai is a small village in the mountains of Yong De county in Lincang. Zhu Peng Zhai means "Bamboo Roof Village". Our 2012 production is the first from this area and is entirely first flush material from 60 to 80 year old naturally growing tea trees growing at an altitude of 1800 meters above sea level. Zhu Peng Zhai is neighbor to Mang Fei mountain and Wu Jia Zhai and shares some of the character of each of these areas while also being entirely unique in taste and aroma.
The leaves picked come from primitive mixed large and small leaf varietals that have been growing at higher altitudes in Yong De for centuries! Nice fresh aroma that will age into an orchid aroma with just a few years. Taste is strong with some bitterness and astringency but not too much. An excellent and unique tea that will age with grace and beauty!
400 grams per cake (7 cakes per bamboo tong).
Stone-pressed in the traditional manner.
