Spring 2023 harvested tea leaves that are 100% sourced from Lao Man'E Village (Bu Lang Mountains) tea from old plantation trees and bushes.

Being pure Lao Man'e this tea is quite bitter. Not only is there bitterness, but there is a strong aroma and very strong cha qi. The tea leaves are burly and thick and go many, many infusions before losing their flavor. The returning flavor is that of sweetness with a nice slippery soothing texture.

If you are looking to understand what pure Lao Man'e tea is while also not being crazy expensive, then this is something worth trying. If you are looking for something to age for the long term as an alternative or complement to Lao Ban Zhang, then Lao Man'e is a natural choice!

April 2023 Harvest (June 25th 2023 pressing)

250 Grams per cake (7 cakes per bamboo leaf tong)

Stone-Pressed in the traditional way

40 Kilograms in total pressed (160 cakes)

Great way to start a Monday

"Ok… mind you I’ve been afraid to buy this tea because of all the references to bitterness. Well I also like a tea that gives me a wild ride. So I worked up The courage to purchase a Lao Man’e cake. I LOVE IT! It has everything I’m looking for. I used a 200ml porcelain teapot with 8g of tea in 205F for a 10sec brew and what I got was a soft viscous sweet tea that made my tongue and lips tingle. This tea is alive. As my brews progressed I got more of the same with a little bitterness showing up around pour #3 but immediately turning sweet and including my throat with the sweetness. Then this strange thing that occasionally happens when I’m enjoying a tea session, my ears plugged up. Like I just landed in a plane. Can’t say I enjoyed that part but it seems to happen to me with young Shengs I’m enjoying. But aside from that, this is my #1 favorite way to start my day. When I get tongue tingling AND lip tingling I’m a happy old man. I can’t believe I waited so Long to buy this tea. It made me think About that story I heard about the naming of Duck Shit Oolong tea, Just to keep other people away so I can enjoy all of this tea for myself. Hehe. To me, this tea is a 10 out of 10. I’m thrilled to have found it. Scott is a master sourcer of great teas and Yunnan Sourcing has my highest respect of any place to buy tea. I better get some more of these cakes before the dreaded “out of stock” shows up. M"
