I wasn't sure what to expect of this one - I hadn't had jiaogulan before. I enjoy it. It's got a nice herbal quality that is different than a green or white tea. I prefer earthier teas for my daily drinker but may come back to this one for variety. I was concerned that it might be too high energy but it's pretty focused and calm, not that buzzy at all.

This was an eye opener. I picked up a sample looking to spend a couple more dollars and get away from “same-y” ripe. I finished it with a new interest in Bu Lang productions. Working on a cake now.

Creamy, bittersweet, and lasts for quite a few steeps. Drinking the strongest pours is like a cup of melted chocolate. No woodiness. A little cooling even through the later, thinner steeps. The one drawback is the cake is pressed so tightly that it’s almost fused, but some determination gets a good chunk into your gaiwan/teapot. All in all a really nice tea, especially if you’re looking for something that does a great job representing/amping up the thick and bittersweet aspects of shou with great longevity.

I spend way too much money on tea, but this sampler was money well spent! I loved every single one of these teas, which is leading me to spend even more money buying tea from YS. Arrived ahead of schedule and packed with care to ensure unbroken leaf. Fresh, fragrant and delicious, all of them. I’m ready to purchase a ‘One Of Everything’ sampler as soon as they offer one…. (hint-hint). Thanks for feeding my addiction!
