A special ripe pu-erh tea harvested from Spring 2013 wild tea trees growing in Yongde County of Lincang. The tea trees grow naturally and rang in age from 40 to 80 years of age. These more mature tea trees make for a great source of tea, both for ripe and raw pu-erh. The deep established root systems pull more nutrients from the soil which translates to more complex teas!
Expertly fermented in Yong De town, special attention was made to the degree of fermentation allowing just the right amount of fermentation to occur while preserving the raw aspect of the leaves. The tea is strong and thick with a sweet camphor aroma and taste. There is a slight bitterness on the outer middle of the tongue which is a nice counter (and adds complexity) to the sweet thick camphor taste.
Spring 2013 raw material, Summer 2013 fermentation.
